As the part of a monthly series that profiles a wide variety of jobs at Cox Automotive Canada, we sat down with Alysha Bell, Senior Manager, Dealer Sales, Dealertrack Canada.
What inspired you to apply for your job at Cox Automotive Canada (CAC)?
I was only 22 years old at the time, and I loved the idea of supporting car dealerships from a software perspective. Our Dealertrack Credit Application online portal was revolutionary eighteen years ago, and since then, the team has introduced many significant innovations to the automotive digital retailing industry.
What aspect of working at CAC most appealed to you?
Working in the car industry from the software side of the business and giving dealerships tools to make the car buying experience more accessible, and more efficient has been very rewarding.
What skills do you find that you are bringing to your current role that you hadn’t thought you would use (until now)?
Definitely managing people. I have been in various roles over the past 14 years with CAC, and I have always managed customer and OEM relationships. That is why leading our Dealertrack Sales team is a new and exhilarating opportunity for me.
What do you like most about your job?
I love that I always have something new to learn. The software business is fast-paced and sophisticated; something that changes on a daily basis. We are also in a very competitive marketplace. That means there is always a challenge that I’m up for!
How does your work impact CAC customers/clients?
My clients know that if they call, I’m always there for them. That’s something I feel very strongly about. From a product development basis, currently, I’m working on a significant partnership opportunity with two large OEM’s. The project is complicated and could be ground-breaking for us regarding automotive Digital Retailing.
Why should someone consider joining CAC?
CAC is a family-owned business, with endless career opportunities. In all my years here, I have found that the company is a very progressive operation, leading the industry in so many ways.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My kids! Also, knowing that I’m going to have an entirely new challenge in the office than the day before.
