As the part of a monthly series that profiles a wide variety of jobs at Cox Automotive Canada, we sat down with Rodrigo Mendes-Guizoni, Project Manager, Dealertrack in Brazil.
What inspired you to apply for your job at Cox Automotive Canada (CAC)?
As a Brazilian with a background in automotive product management, I was looking to transition into a career in technology after finishing my MBA. When the opportunity came up with the Dealertrack Brazilian project, I jumped at the chance to join CAC.
What skills do you find you are bringing to your current role that you hadn’t thought you would use?
In one of my previous jobs before joining CAC, I provided training about fuel technologies to colleagues from other departments of the company. This required skills like presenting to large audiences, preparing training materials, and communication. I did not think these experiences would be useful in my current position as Product Manager. However, I am now tapping into those skills when I train dealers and lenders on how to use our Dealertrack portal.
In what ways does CAC inspire you to go above and beyond the call of duty?
At CAC, I feel I have the flexibility to subtly shape my job in a way that I can to play to my strengths, while also improving both my personal satisfaction and my professional performance. This opportunity is possible due to the diversity of our team. Each member brings something unique to the table, completing each other and the team. And since I am happy with my work and performing well, I receive positive feedback that makes me want to do more and more for the company, which leads to a virtuous circle.
Why should someone consider joining CAC?
I find the company is a meritocracy that values what you do. Since joining Dealertrack over a year ago, I’ve been promoted from Product Owner to Product Manager, and I feel that my level of responsibility keeps growing. If someone wants to work hard, CAC is the perfect place to build a successful career.
What advice would you give a new CAC team member?
I would encourage new team members to share their ideas with us. At CAC, I feel people listen to what you are saying, regardless of their level in the company. New team members bring a fresh pair of eyes to our everyday work and provide valuable insight. By sharing ideas, you not only help the business grow, but also show a keen interest in the continuing success of Cox Automotive Canada.
