Mississauga, Ont.—March 8th, 2018—Cox Automotive Canada held its Women With Drive event yesterday afternoon at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale in Mississauga, Ont. The event, which looked to encourage and empower the company’s employees, involved team-building activities and a self-defence class to strengthen and build confidence within our team members.

The second Women With Drive event was another in the series that aimed to champion equality and ambition in and out of the workplace. Following the event, Maria Soklis, President of Cox Automotive Canada, spoke about her desire to ensure team members were left feeling more confident and secure.

“Now, more than ever before, we are seeing a very strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity,” said Soklis. “At Cox Automotive Canada, our goal is to continue to strengthen and inspire our workforce, while we forge ahead and aim to be among the most progressive companies in the world.”

Grace Kong, Vice President, Human Resources, Cox Automotive Canada, led an impactful Q & A session with members of the company’s Leadership Team, including Mo Ashoor, Richard Evans and Jerome Dwight. Each of the men in the panel discussion spoke about the many women who have been most inspirational to them along their journey, both within the workplace and their personal lives. The men’s candor and transparency provided attendees with a positive impetus ahead of International Women’s Day.

“We were thrilled to have had so many team members join us yesterday at our second Women With Drive event,” said Kong. “This is an initiative that promises to support the individuals who make up our Cox Automotive Canada team, and I can’t think of a more empowering activity for our group to have taken on together for International Women’s Day.”

A global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world, International Women’s Day is a call to action through events — large and small — that focus on equality.
