Cox Automotive Canada Wraps Up No Excuses 2018 Community Outreach Campaign

As part of Cox Automotive Canada’s Cox Cares corporate social responsibility program, the March No Excuses 2018 campaign encouraged team members to get out and support local communities across Canada by way of volunteerism, donations, and ‘giving back’ initiatives.

As part of Cox Automotive Canada’s Cox Cares corporate social responsibility program, the March No Excuses 2018 campaign encouraged team members to get out and support local communities across Canada by way of volunteerism, donations, and ‘giving back’ initiatives.

Cox Automotive Canada team members volunteered by donating their time to more than 20 different Canadian organizations during this year’s No Excuses campaign. From sorting food at local food banks to making meals for children and teens at youth shelters – and from donating blood at local blood banks to building and creating mental wellness baskets for regional women’s shelters – our team members gave selflessly and happily. The following examples speak to their positive endeavours during the month of March:

  • Cox Automotive Canada Vancouver team members volunteered at the Salvation Army in New Westminster, BC., where they spent time fundraising and shopping for new items – including baby bottles, bibs, baby clothes, and baby food – for those in need. The team also volunteered at the 2018 Vancouver Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC, where they marshalled participants, oversaw registration, operated the photo booth, and more!
  • Manheim Edmonton team members made “no excuses” when volunteering at the 16th Annual Hair MassaCURE in support of The Children’s Wish Foundation and the Alberta Cancer Foundation. The Manheim Edmonton team also carved out a significant amount of time to help divide, organize, stack and shelve food at the Edmonton Food Bank.
  • Manheim Toronto and Ready Logistics team members created, designed and wrapped mental wellness baskets for Halton Women’s Shelter. Led by Cox Automotive Canada President, Maria Soklis, 25 team members formed an assembly line and created 50 mental wellness baskets. Manheim/Ready’s Social Committee also held bake sales, silent auctions, 50/50 draws, and additional fundraisers to support Milton District Hospital and the local Infant Food Bank.
  • NextGear Capital Mississauga team members visited Youth Without Shelter to cook a meal for all of its 53 residents on Saturday, March 31st. The NGC team chose that long weekend specifically, knowing that not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to spend holiday weekends with friends and family. Earlier that same week (Monday, March 26th) the NGC team also donated a meal to Youth Without Shelter. Additionally, NGC team member Andrew Snetsinger generously contributed to the No Excuses campaign by donating blood to Canadian Blood Services, something he does willingly every two weeks.
  • Dealertrack Mississauga team members also enthusiastically volunteered their time at Youth Without Shelter (the Etobicoke, Ont. location), where the team prepared dinner for approximately 60 children and teens. They also collected over 1,000 juice boxes to leave for youth at the shelter as a “treat”. The Dealertrack Mississauga team partnered with Socks 4 Souls Canada during this year’s No Excuses campaign, by providing the organization with over 1100 new socks to share with the homeless.

“No Excuses is a great opportunity for Canadian team members to remember – and live by – one of Cox Automotive’s core company values of community involvement,” said Cox Automotive Canada President, Maria Soklis. “I am very proud of our Canadian team members who set aside so much of their valuable time and energy to give back to their local communities.”

This year’s No Excuses community outreach campaign was nothing short of graciously and ardently successful.
