Manheim Toronto Celebrates 55 Years of Service in the Remarketing Industry
Canada’s largest and oldest auto auction celebrates a storied history of innovation, service, and local community service
Manheim Toronto celebrated its 55th Anniversary on October 22, 2019, hosting loyal clients at its weekly Tuesday auction event. The auction, first established by Homer Stevens and Ruth Hart Stevens as Toronto Auto Auction in Milton, Ontario, began facilitating the buying and selling of vehicles in 1964.
Since then, the business has continually evolved to meet the demands of dealers, commercial buyers and OEMs. From physical lanes to online Simulcast auctions to a host of ancillary services, over the past five decades, Manheim has become a full automotive remarketing solution provider across Canada.
“The entire Manheim Toronto team is proud to celebrate the legacy of Canada’s largest and oldest auction in Canada, which would not be possible without our team members, loyal clients and community support,” said Cox Automotive Canada President, Maria Soklis. “Both Homer Stevens and Ruth Hart Stevens had a vision 55 years ago, and we are proud to continue and build on that vision.”
Due to its expanding business through the decades, the original Toronto Auto Auction was acquired by Manheim Canada in 1983. Today, as the world’s leading provider of vehicle remarketing services, Manheim globally has 18,000 employees in 125 operating locations around the globe. In Canada, there are Manheim locations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton, and Halifax, hosting more than 30 in-lane and online auctions each month.
“As the industry’s leading global provider of vehicle remarketing services, we will continue to provide our clients with the best customer experience and full access to Manheim’s growing Digital Wholesale services,” said Jerome Dwight, Vice President, Inventory & Financial Solutions, Cox Automotive Canada.
Manheim Canada and parent Cox Automotive Canada would like to thank all of our clients and dealers who came out to celebrate our Toronto auction’s 55th Anniversary.
